Shanghai’s elegant interior is reminiscent of the stylish city of Shanghai in the 1920’s. The main entrance is decorated with antique lacquered Chinese folding screens while grey slate tiles cover the interior walls. A series of quintessential Chinese ink paintings of birds flanks one side of the restaurant while several panels of Chinese classical poetry etched in stone and an impressive painting of Chinese storks denoting luck dominate the opposite side. Five tastefully furnished private dining rooms seat from four to ten persons. |
| The kitchen team, spearheaded by Master Chef Wong Sai Man, has created more than 100 dishes, including Dim Sum, that showcase the vibrant and distinctive flavours of Shanghai. Tempt your taste buds with Cheng Kong homestyle ham, ‘siew loong pau’ (steamed Shanghai dumplings), drunken chicken, deep-fried eel Wuxi style, ‘wong qiu siew peng’ (baked Chinese pastry topped with sesame seeds), ‘shou choy wor tip’ (pan fried vegetable dumplings), crispy duck with fortune rolls and imperial jewels (boiled duck egg halves infused with soya sauce and Chinese spices topped with chopped Yunnan ham). |
| In addition to the usual range of Chinese teas, diners can also enjoy freshly brewed ‘eight treasures’ tea. Firmly believed by the Chinese to have curative properties, the fragrant concoction comprises American ginseng, dried longans, ‘kei chi’ (boxthorn fruit), chrysanthemum, red dates, rock sugar, lotus seed and dragon well tea leaves. |
