Tonight our prayers are indeed answered. I am proud to say that together, we have managed to meet our fundraising target of over RM500,000 through table sales and special donations alone! I would like to point out that a full 100% of all proceeds of the silent auction, as well as table sales, will all be donated to these 3 groups. I thank you for your hearts as they are enlarged tonight. Your enlarged hearts will I am sure enable you to contain more happiness and joy as it has mine," said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh in his speech at the Climate Change Week Gala.
YTL's 2nd Climate Change Week 2008 Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2008 "This year, our Wessex Water has increased the total amount of renewable energy generated from 21GWh to 25.8GWh. This is indeed significant because it equates to almost 39% of our total energy use, compared with the national water industry figure of 14% in 2005 and 2006. Following the increase in our use of renewable energy over the last 2 years, the levels of all emissions have fallen considerably. For example, the level of sulphur dioxide we emit each year has been reduced by over 60% in the last decade. With these results, we are pleased to say that Wessex Water is currently meeting our target path of reducing emissions by 60% between 1990 and 2050, as prescribed in the UK Climate Change Bill." said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh
